How do I make a booking?
Just send us an email and we will get back to you within 24 hours to confirm availability, or give us a call on 01524 840 072. We will then send out an invoice for the deposit confirming all the details of the tour details. Upon receipt of the deposit, your booking is confirmed and the dates are booked in.
How much is the deposit?
30% of the total cost of the tour.
How can I pay?
You can pay through PayPal using Visa, MasterCard, American Express. You can alternatively send a bank transfer. Both of these options will be detailed on the invoice that we send to you by email.
How do I know if I'm fit enough for the tour?
Each of our tours has a “Challenge Rating”, ranging from 1/5 (being the easiest) to 5/5. Please see the “Challenge Rating” page on our website for more details. But don't worry, there will always be a tour perfect for you.
When do I need to pay the balance?
The balance needs to be paid 8 weeks prior to the the beginning of the tour. You can make a booking less than 8 weeks before the beginning of a tour but you will need to pay for the full tour at the time of booking.
Do I need to know anything about the mechanics of bikes?
We supply you with a puncture repair kit and bicycle pump with the assumption that if you had a puncture, you or another traveller in your party would be able to fix it. We would also expect you to be able to hook a chain back on, should it jump off. Anything other than this, you can use the service mentioned below that would take you to the nearest bike repair shop to help get you back on the road.
What group sizes do you cater for?
We cater for all groups sizes both large, small and pairs. We can also cater for solo cyclists but there would be an extra charge to cover the cost of return transportation and baggage transfer, as well as a single supplement from hotels and B&Bs.
What types of hotels will we be staying at?
We will be booking you into bed and breakfasts, guest houses or hotels which have been carefully researched and chosen by us because of their comfort, charm and – most importantly – their cycle-friendliness.
What meals are included in the tours?
On all of our self-guided tours, a hearty breakfast will be included. Packed lunches are sometimes available on request from the hotel at an extra cost. Our supported tours also include a hearty breakfast to start your day off and the back-up van will carry tools, spare parts, and will also carry snacks, water, tea and coffee which you are more than welcome to partake during your ride.
What bikes do you provide?
They are all hybrid 24 gear bikes. On receipt of your booking form, if you rent one of our bikes, we will request information regarding the height of all travellers so we can allocate the perfect bike to each person.
Do you provide maps?
Yes, we provide paper maps for your route and local maps to detail where you are spending each night and how to get there, we can also provide GPS maps for each tour. We do ask that you return the maps at the end of the tour so we can reuse each map. If you would like a map to keep we can also arrange this for you.
Do you book other trips for us, like castle visits or museum entry?
These activities aren't included in the price, but we can book these extra tours on request at an extra cost. We can also advise you on what places are worth seeing along the bike tour.
What happens on the day of the tour?
A week before the tour we will contact you to arrange a meeting point on the morning of the tour, we will also send you a gpx map for you to look over at your leisure on your tablet or smartphone. On the day of the tour you will be met by an OROS representitive who will give you a brief rundown of the tour including some ideas for your trip, they will make sure your bike fits you correctly, hand over all equipment including maps and route details and organise a place and time to take you back to the start point (or other prearranged place). On the penultimate day we will contact you to confirm the time and meeting point.
What happens if my bike breaks down during my journey?
We have 24/7 breakdown service included in the cost of the tour if you are renting one of our bikes. This will be to arrange transport for you and your bike back to a safe location, be it the next night's hotel or the nearest bike repair shop.This service is also available to tourers using their own bikes, although the cost would have to be covered by the tourer using their own bikes.
