A relaxing three day Peak District cycling holiday in the White Peak. Following the two of the most famous and best kept cycling trails in the Peak District, the High Peak Trail and Tissington Trail, and around Carsington Water, it is a cycling holiday which is mostly traffic free. The High Peak Trail, once an old railway line, takes us from Wirksworth into the Derbyshire Dales and some stunning countryside with and dramatic views of the surrounding hills. Near where the two trails meet, we leave the High Peak Trail, and follow Tagg Lane - a local road, into the handsome old limestone village of Monyash.

Carsington Water

The second day we follow the Tissington trail, which follow the Buxton - Ashbourne railway line, through, once more, the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. The route goes past some stunning scenery, including the picturesque village of Tissington with its grand Hall, well worth a visit if you're lucky enough to be passing on an open day. It finishes in Ashbourne, a market town full of historic buildings and fine architecture. On day three we head onto some local roads as we head slightly uphill towards Carsington Water. At the Reservoir we jump on the cycle path which follows the reservoir closely and is relatively flat, before heading downhill once more into Wirksworth where you finish your three day Peak District cycling holiday.
