
Lancaster Witches Walk 51 mile walk across Bowland
The Lancaster Witches Walk is the bewitching 5 day walk, across Pendle Hill and over the Forest of Bowland, developed to commemorate 400 hundred anniversary of the trial and execution of the Pendle Witches. This is a 51 mile walk over some stunning scenery, from Pendle where they lived to Lancaster Castle the site of the witches trials.
As well as going over Salter Fell and the roof of Bowland, around Pendle Hill and along the River Lune, the route also passes through some lovely villages like Slaidburn, Waddington and Fence.

This tour includes a night in Lancaster the night before the tour starts, transport to the start point in Barrowford on the morning of the tour, and a night in Lancaster at the end of the tour. Please enquire for parking information in Lancaster. We can also arrange accommodation in Barrowford on the night before.
All our walks are designed to be completed in a certain number of days, but we can adapt and work with you to organise the walk to suit you needs. Along the length of this walk there are 10 commemorative ‘Tercet milestones’, each three line tercet is taken from a Carol Ann Duffy poem inspired by the plight of these women. Each of these ten tercets, one for each ‘Pendle Witch’, are designed so people can make a rubbing of with an A4 sheet, and each Tercet has the name of a one of the women inscribed down the side.
